Taxi-Squad Contracts Guaranteed?

Currently there is nothing that indicates whether a Taxi-Squad's contract should or should not be guaranteed. Basically the contract does not count against your salary, but what about those rookie contracts that get cut while the player is on the taxi squad? Should a cap hit be considered for these players?

I wonder if the player's contract should be considered "non-guaranteed" while they are on taxi-squad and therefore IF THEY ARE ON TAXI and get cut there is no penalty. This would mean obviously 1st rounders have guaranteed contracts but 2nd- 5th are not guaranteed if they have not been promoted.

The key here is IF THEY HAVE NOT BEEN PROMOTED. So in other words in between the time the player is drafted and up until the time contracts are due, if a player has not been demoted and then promoted, a player is not technically promoted. The player can still be demoted before the contract deadline. So what I am saying is that you shouldn't need to "demote" the player during this window just to cut him.. Seems silly, should just be implied that the player "has not been promoted".

Currently the contracts do take on a cap penalty, but I wonder if this should be the case.

I'd say if they are on taxi, the cuts are NOT subjected to cap penalty, however minor the penalty would be. I feel like there's no guarantees on the "practice squad."

I agree if they are on taxi squad there should not be a penalty as long as has never been on the main roster.

This vote passed. No player who is not on the "Active Roster" and is cut will incur a cap charge.

Pleas note any Rookie that is drafted in the 2nd round or later and gets cut prior to the contract deadline WILL NOT COUNT as a cap hit if that player had not been demoted to Taxi Squad. Any player who was put on Taxi then promoted and subsequently cut would count as a cap hit.

Bottom line, you don't need to move a rookie you just drafted to your taxi squad in order to enjoy the penalty free cut.
